A car kit is not a first-aid kit. It’s the stuff you forgot that you’ll need three times a season. Build it once in March. Check it once in June. It saves you.

The core list One roll of athletic tape. Not medical tape. Athletic tape. Two pairs of socks. A mouthguard (if your sport uses one). One elastic bandage. One small bottle of pain reliever. A hairband or two. A towel.

That’s it. Throw it in a ziplock bag. Size gallon. Put it in the trunk.

What not to include Don’t pack extra shoes. Don’t pack a full change of clothes. Don’t pack ice packs or medical supplies. Your trunk is not an athletic training room. This is for the small things.

What you actually need The tape for the time she rolled her ankle two hours before a tournament. The socks for when she left hers at home. The bandage for the time something went wrong and you needed to stabilize something before getting to the trainer.
